i find that passage unobjectionable. hans clearly represents a mainstream perspective that has produced no or very scant evidence, within its own perspective and value system, that confirms claims made from our side. i wouldn't expect hans to mince words about that.
however, the open sarcasm and devaluation of our professional and intellectual ethic, that often characterizes his rhetoric, is insupportable ... at least past a certain point. though even that is difficult to judge fairly, as many on our side also fall prey to a variety of rhetorical and egoistic excesses ... speaking, frankly, of myself, at least.
