I second gpm's post. In fact we just adopted a guinea pig from a shelter that serves only piggies - she had been purchased from a pet store for a young child and then the family got a puppy so she was neglected - her fur was horribly matted - nails turned into her feet and very skinny.

she is a real sweety, will sit with my two year old for a long long time on her lap bveing loved and petted.

For the kitty it sounds like the PULS is doing well but keep in mind arnica as it is recommended for animals who have been neglected or had a fright.
