Would appreciate any suggestions. While grooming our cockerspaniel this weekend, we noticed a lump on her right ear. It is located at the base of her ear (toward the head), on the outside of the ear. It is the size of a small marble, round and appears to be filled with possibly blood. It is dark in color and is firm, but not hard.
Mollie is 9 years old. She loves attention and people. It took her many years to get used to the idea that our german shepard is the dominate dog. She has been attacked on several occassions by the german shepard (mainly for getting to close to her food or a bone that she deems to be hers). We now try to be very careful and check the yard before we leave Mollie out, to make sure there isn't any food that can be fought over. She tolerates our cats, but would snap at them (as kittens) out of the blue if she got annoyed at them. She eats anything, including dirty tissues and napkins out of the trash. She has always had a craving for chocolate. Which we realize can be fatal to dogs, but when our children were much younger and careless, Mollie would get into their chocolate on occassion. One time she ate a pound of chocolate. She vomited and had loose bowel for a couple of days, but that was all. She also is very gassy This usually happens if she eats something other than dog food. We've been giving her, as well as our other dogs raw ground beef and marrow bones for about 9 months. Her coat is good. Doesn't seem to have a problem with dry flaky skin like some cockers. Her breath is quite strong and her gums are red and inflamed. She also snorts alot as if she is trying to clear out her nose. The lump on her ear was the basic reason for this post, but any other help would be appreciated. Thanks, Kathi
