I'm not sure why my last reply appears twice!
Patti has been without her incisors for about 6 months, and since she had molars, a soft diet wasn't required - they only use the front teeth to get the food to a size small enough to get it to the back. Thus I just have to chop her food to 1/2 inch pieces. Even with the jaw surgery, she should still be able to chew.
Doing without the incisors might pose a problem for a squirrel in the wild. But in captivity, maybe they'd do okay.
