Hello,
We have a 1-year old male mini-lop rabbit, fixed, white fur with gray & beige sploches, gray ears, tail, & nose. Doesn't like to be picked up, but loves to play and be scratched & rubbed. Big appetite, diet mostly alfalfa pellets & hay (veggies maybe 2x per week, small portions). Very tame, good bowel production, toilet trained to go only in his pen. Sheds a lot, receives petroleum-malt preparation every week with a piece of lettuce to prevent hairball obstruction of digestive tract (has had one episode where he became "plugged up" for about a week during heavy shedding; got over it with petroleum-malt preparation & papain pills).
In the past two days he's started a runny nose, no decrease in appetite, good temper or activity, but is shedding more than regular. The vet told us to bring him in tomorrow-runny noses are considered dangerous in rabbits. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

RF
