Hi - Dempster (my cat) has been in a fight (he does this all the time). He's a mellow soul but won't have other cats treading in his territory. He must be on his 9th life about now.
He's obviously been in a nasty fight this time. Battle worn big time. He's got a hole in his left cheek -- gaping wide open -- and you can see the bone. It's oozing pus and some blood (it alternates between oozing blood and pus basically). I noticed a foul smell coming from it. Not sure what to give him.
The only thing that has changed with him since this injury is that he's lost a lot of weight. I think it may have hurt to chew(?). However, when we put food down - he IS eating! So, none of this makes sense.
Basically it's a hole. It's open. It's itching coz I can see him scratching it, which just knocks it open again.
Any ideas would be appreciated. And before a few of you decide to ignore this post - remember this is a cat that needs help. I'm hoping you'll set aside your biases towards me and just help! Please.
