Have you got access to a breastfeeding counsellor??? Interfering with breastfeeding while it is becoming established could cause problems when you try to return 10 days later. It might be difficult to maintain you r milk supply - unless you intend to use a breast pump and discard the milk. However it is difficult to gauge how much to pump out, as the baby is only 4 weeks old. If you are 100% towards breastfeeding, I would advise you to seek further advise and expect problems trying to maintain your milk supply if you suddenly stop for 10 days. You could also suffer from engorement, as it is best to decrease milkflow gradually, not suddenly. The delicate balance of supply and demand for breastmilk can be fragile until breastfeeding is more established (older baby). However, you need to weigh up the situation and try to work out what will be best for you both. If you need any more information on lactation give me a shout.
Incidently , my 2nd son suffered from severe congestion from birth, and a visit to the homeopath and cranial osteopath did wonders. Did you have a very fast or difficult labour???
