A couple of months ago there was a case of a child who died of meningicoccal, Somewhere in the NSW coastal area. The TV program "A Current Affair" ran an "expose" on the natural health practitioner who was allegedly treating the child & advertising "homeopathic meningicoccal vaccines".
There was an outcry about scaremongering in regard to the disease and a push for all homeopathic and "natural" medicines to be registered for use.
Meanwhile, whenever there are new outbreaks of the disease, the whole community is lined up for vaccination regardless of whether the vaccine is for the appropriate strain ( B or C) and given prophelatic antibiotics.
The allopathic vaccine is just about to go on the PBS list for all adolescents from 12 - 20 and mass vaccination of secondary school students is expected to start when school resumes.
