the same could be said of physicians, specialists and even homeopaths.

All have invested (or their parents have invested) a great deal of time, money & energy into their studies and not all are in it for truly altruistic motives.

The Reiki energy may be "free" to access, but recompense for the time invested in treating or passing on the knowledge is more than justified.

There's a saying amongst motorcyclists (of which fraternity I belong to)- if you have a $10 head - wear a $10 helmet. I wear a $450 helmet, because I value my head & yes, I have replaced it a couple of times.(maybe Chris could use the old ones for her magpies)
You don't see a homeopath for free even though the information is disseminated freely through books or the internet.
Even the clergy get paid for weddings, funerals & namings. They certainly don't live by bread alone.
