Samaha and colleagues[1] compared the effects of a low-carbohydrate diet vs a low-fat diet in obese patients. They reported that severely obese patients on a low-carbohydrate diet had lost more weight at 6-month follow-up than patients who ate a low-fat diet. In addition, they found that there was improvement in the level of triglycerides and insulin sensitivity
It can be a important study and can form a reasoning for the benifit in Insulin Resistance. Sometimes back I written to diabetic association that if controlled fasting or withdrawl of some carbohydrates can benifit in Insulin Resistance which I feel can be possible. However their reply was that it has not yet proved.
