Hi Salmann,
There is a better way to approach this issue: do not work with any homeopath until they understand that you wish to know what you are being given as a remedy.
You must agree, in this case, that you won't begin to start questioning the prescriptions, either--running out to "do research" on what you're given only to challenge the doctor. This actually gets in the way of the remedy's work, as it allows the patient to create a bias about the symptoms he or she experiences while under treatment. It is good to be curious and wish to learn more, but sometimes you have to wish to postpone learning more about the remedy in order to give it a chance to work well.
In any case, I'm sure you will find a prescriber who is willing to take your need to know into consideration. I think it is quite legitimate--I would want to know, for example, that the remedy I was being given is an actual homeopathic remedy, and not a "combination remedy" which will cause me harm.
Good luck in your quest for a good homeopath!
Divina
