I did see the programme (this morning), and it was more balanced than most I had seen.
However, at the end they attacked those doctors involved in speaking out for not following strick "scientific method". But, the links are clearly there.
The other matter that concerned me was the debate on tv (this morning) about how there has been a measles "outbreak" in London. Five children (if I remember correctly), but what is NOT reported is whether those children are vaccinated or not!!!
I was amazed however at the number of parents who rang in to the debate this morning saying they are prepared to reject MMR in favour of the single vaccines or reject vaccination altogether. What was also suprising, sadly so, was how every single person who rang in knew an autistic child.
However, Hoppitt, I will be watching GMTV this morning to see if Tony Blair has indeed decided to get Leo vaccinated. I seriously doubt he would have had the triple, more likely the singles. But, we'll see.
I think Panorama focussed a little too much on Andrew Wakefield, as well. What about those other doctors who speak out against it? It did appear a little like a witch hunt in that regard.
I was surprised however at the more assertive approach of the American Congressional Hearing. They seem quite determined to find the reason behind the rise in autism. Let's hope they *independently* fund research to find out the truth. Mind you, won't change the UK's mind much, will it?
Overall, I think the programme has placed the seed of doubt, and that can't be bad, can it?
