Hi Somer,
Congratulations on your pregnancy .

Just a suggestion for the heartburn (temp, quick and safe relief) while you are waiting for your remedy to be figured out (though I wonder if it's best to see someone in person - esp with your case as I recall it - and now the pregnancy).

Mix up about 1/2 tsp of ground cumin in water - stir (it doesn't easily mix with water so give it a good swift stir) and drink it fast. It tastes a bit bitter but it instantly relieves heartburn (boy do I remember the intensity of the heartburn whilst pregnant!). I used this when I was pregnanct because I knew it was safe and I didn't want to take anything that would harm my baby or myself.

The other thing which is practical and so easy to do:
Sleep lying on your right side during those times you have heartburn. This helps if you are having any reflux or feel it coming up your esophagus. The reason is the shape, and position of the stomach . When lying on your right side - the contents of your stomach aren't as easily pushed back up. If you can get a diagram of your stomach - you'll see what I mean . I remember reading it was best for kidneys to sleep on the left side, but during those times I had unbearable heartburn which prevented me from sleeping - I would lie on my right side...and I always managed to gain some relief (alwasy woke on my left side ).

Hope you feel better soon!
Lisa
