Being closed down mentally and emotionally is a primary symptom of sycosis. He probably needs deep maismic treatment. Most sycotic cases begin with Thuja (Hahnemann used only Thuja and Nit. ac. to treat it). Nat mur is also anti-sycotic so that may explain why there was a small response to it.
