Question

I have a feeling I already know the answer to this, but here goes: Are there any acute remedies for a male friend of mine who is currently getting Cluster Migraines, or is this something that would have to be worked up as a chronic case?

These headaches come on once or twice a year and last for a month to 3 months. Have been occuring like this for about 25 years. It has been a year since the last episode. Episodes will last about 15 minutes to a half hour. Nasal passages start to drain. Headache will start on one side then move to the other before it leaves. Often the migraine comes on after going to sleep or starting to relax. Pain often so intense that the man will pound his head with his fist.
