I am posting for my husband who is very frustrated with his excess body hair. He wants to get rid of it or find a way to have less of it. The hair on his upper chest and back near his neck drives him crazy the most.He recently shaved it all off to see how it would feel. Was happier, but not uncomfortable with the re-growth.

From what I'm guessing, we thinks he sounds very much like a Sulphur type constitution.
He is very open-hearted, gentle and giving. He is very intelligent but often lacks initiative and doesn't follow through. He enjoys debating almost to the point of arguing esp. if about a topic of great interest to him. Seems to live inside of his brain and rarely expresses himself emotionally. Feels like he has to control anger and never acts out his anger. Withdraws and keeps it inside. Has very strong sexual urges, but suppresses those too.

His parents were often disappointed with him as a child, expecting him to do better, be better, etc. although he was smart in school--never good enough for them. Was overweight as child and picked on by others and made to feel ashamed. Parents forced him into competitive sports so he "wouldn't be lazy and fat". He is always concerned he can never be good enough in anything, so gives up easily and swallows shame and guilt.

Has fear of failure in almost everything, including business and as husband/father. Creates alot of anxiety for him.

He craves carbohydrates, salt and cheeses and fatty foods. Only aversion is gelatin type products like "jello". Gets indigestion easily from acidic foods. Loves spicy, hot foods like curries.

Does not like damp, cold weather. Prefers warm and dry.

Feels better after physical exertion even though doesn't do it often.

Sleeps on his back. Falls asleep easily but often wakes up between 3-5 a.m. but can go back to sleep after a while.

Has lots of aches and pains in knees, ankles from sports injuries and excess weight. Has oily skin with dark hair. Gets colds and ailments related to excess mucus easily. Had nasal polyp removed 2 years ago.

Uses caffeine and nicotine products to give energy and focus. Struggled with drinking problems on and off for years but not drinking now.

Husband feels many of his problems (aggression, anger, excess body hair, inability to express emotions, etc.) would be minimized if he had less testosterone.

Any thoughts??? I hate to see him experiment with hormones, but see him ready to do something serious about this.

Thanks.

I forgot to mention that after he shaved his chest, there was bright red rash with squiggly, circular pattern all over. Pharmacist said it was probably a fungal infection--possibly like a ringworm and suggested he use a broad-spectrum anti-fungal cream. My husband has been scratching his chest for years but because it is so hairy, he never noticed anything but a slight redness after scratching. Maybe this has been part of his obsession in getting rid of the hair
