Why are they advising Menigitis Vaccine for School aged children? That is not even a high risk group for meningitis (A,W,C,and Y strains). And Ricky is right....it only covers C strain and that's more a risk for college-age students who live in dorms.(close quarters and who....dare I say....don't get their butts into a doctor when they have severe symptoms. Maybe they think that bad headache is just a hangover.)
Haemophilus B menigitis they do vaccinate for. It's called the HiB Vaccine. Risk group for that is age 5 years old and under.
It is also the vaccine I suspect screwed up my son....who now has ADHD, anxiety..etc.
Like Lisa...I wish I knew then....what I am learning now.
Not only that....I'm developing a strong case of "confict of interest" since I work at a Health Department in Disease Control. Need a new job....one that fits with my expanding awareness.
Nor do I advise for the Chicken Pox vaccine. None of the nurses that I work with think it's a good idea. See lots more problems down the road when adults more than kids start getting it.
Nah...
don't vaccinate for Menigitis C. It's very treatable and preventable by other means...especially in a young age group...that is minimally at risk anyway.
